Alicante Airport (ALC) is just 11 km from the city centre — one of the closest airports to a Spanish city. You have four realistic options: bus, taxi, private transfer, or car hire. Here is exactly what each costs and when to use it.
| Option | Price | Time | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bus C6 | €4.60 | 25–35 min | Solo travellers, couples |
| Taxi | €25–35 | 15–20 min | Any group, any time |
| Private transfer | €35–50 | 15–20 min | Groups, late arrivals |
| Car hire | From €25/day | 15 min | Exploring the region |
The C6 bus is operated by TAM and runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It departs from the second floor of the arrivals terminal and connects the airport directly with the city centre, stopping at the Renfe train station, Plaza de los Luceros (TRAM connection), and Plaza Puerta del Mar.
The main stop in the city centre is Plaza de los Luceros, which is roughly a 15-minute walk or a short taxi ride from Plaza Virgen del Remedio. If you are staying in the old town or near the port, this is a very manageable walk with normal luggage.
Taxis operate from a rank directly outside the arrivals terminal. The company at Alicante Airport is Radio Taxi Elche — their vehicles have a distinctive green stripe. No booking required during the day; simply join the queue at the rank.
A private transfer means a driver waits for you in arrivals with your name on a sign, regardless of flight delays. The price is fixed in advance and covers the whole vehicle — which makes it cost-effective for groups of 4 or more splitting the fare.
Reputable platforms for booking: Welcome Pickups, GetTransfer, or directly through your accommodation provider.
All major car hire companies operate from Alicante Airport terminal: Avis, Europcar, Hertz, Centauro, and others. If your trip includes day trips to the Costa Blanca — Benidorm, Tabarca, Elche, Murcia — renting a car makes a lot of sense.
There is currently no direct train or tram service from Alicante Airport to the city centre. A tram extension is planned but not yet operational as of 2026. The C6 bus to Plaza de los Luceros is the closest equivalent — from Luceros you can connect to the TRAM network (lines L1–L5) to reach other parts of the city and the coast.
Alicante Plaza Beach is located at Plaza Virgen del Remedio 6, in the heart of the old town. If you arrive by bus C6, the closest stop is Plaza de los Luceros — from there it is a flat 15-minute walk through the pedestrian streets of the centre, or a 5-minute taxi ride. If you arrive by taxi or private transfer, give the driver the address directly and they will drop you at the door.
